Want to Help Your Senior Loved One Enjoy Their Summer Even More?

Summer is one of the most popular times of year, and for good reason. The sun is warm, the weather is nearly perfect, and the amount of activities available to people seem nearly endless. Here at Synergy HomeCare of Yuma, we love the summer months as much as anyone else, however, we probably enjoy them for a different reason. You see, dear reader, as in-home care providers, we spend a lot of times with our patients. Through this interaction, we see the effects that people can suffer if they are cooped up in the house for too long. The summer months provide our patients with many more opportunities to get out, stretch their legs, and have some fun. In today’s post, we thought it would be fun to go over some of the ways that our patients and their families spend time together when the weather is warm. Continue reading below to learn more.

What Will You Get Into This Summer?

Chances are good that when you were growing up, your parents had to come up with some sort of plan to keep you busy during the summer. Without the babysitting provided by eight hours of mandatory schooling, every summer, parents have to come up with creative ways to make sure that their children have something to do. Now that your parent is a little older, isn’t it time to repay the favor? Below, we have listed some of the activities that our patients enjoy the most.

  • Taking a Walk: For many of our patients, mobility can be an issue when it comes to participating in physical activity. Luckily, walking is one of the least impactful and stressful activities that a person can do. If you’re looking for a way to make your senior loved one’s day, why not take them to their favorite park or natural area and go on a walk with them. Not only will it provide them the opportunity to get out of their home, but will also allow you to spend some time with them. Usually, all of our patients want is the ability to spend time with their families and taking a walk is a great way to make sure that you get to spend as much time with them as possible.
  • Fishing: Looking for a way to spend a few early morning hours with your senior loved one? If you are, fishing is a great way to get out of the house, have some fun, and experience nature. Fishing has been enjoyed as a leisure sport for centuries and, in our opinion, is still as relaxing now as it was then. In addition to getting to be outside and spend time with you, your loved one can get a real sense of accomplishment if they land the big catch of the day.
